Work in Progress: Antrorse Sweater

It's been a week or so since I started knitting an Antrorse sweater in conjunction with the Very Shannon Summer Sweater Knit Along, so I thought I'd give you guys an update on my progress.

I started with 6 skeins of Blue Sky Alpacas worsted cotton yarn and a lot of anxiety.  If I'm honest, I know that I do better with small, quick knits, and I wasn't sure how I'd do with such a big project.  (And I'm actually still wondering...)

The Antrorse pattern calls for US size 10 needles, but after a bit of swatching I ended up choosing US size 8 needles for my project instead.  My yarn is just a little bit thicker than the yarn suggested in the pattern.

I've used up 1 whole skein of yarn so far, and what I've got looks like the pictures in the pattern, so I'm thinking I'm still on the right track.

What you're seeing in this last picture is the funnel neck of the sweater.  See the 3 neat button holes?  I'm feeling pretty good about those.

The things that I'm not feeling so stellar about are the nearly-200-stitch rows I'm currently working on.  Each row is like it's own formidable hill to climb, requiring several mini pep talks along the way. Because of that, I took a little detour and knitted myself a headband last night to fulfill my need for instant knitting gratification.  You can check it out on my Instagram page if you're interested.

I fully intend to soldier on with this project and I cannot wait for that moment when I finish it and get to try it on!

Until then... happy knitting!
xoxo

  1. So glad to hear I am not the only one who gets put off by large patterns "Each row is like it's own formidable hill to climb, requiring several mini pep talks along the way" describes the feeling perfectly!

  2. Perhaps that's why I never took up knitting in the first place-it just seemed to take so long when I watched Mom doing it!
I'm sure it will be amazing when finished, can't wait to see!
